Timely decisions to create a modern hydrocarbon supply infrastructure have become an important factor in ensuring energy security for Russia and China, said Igor Sechin, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Strategic Development of the Fuel and Energy Sector and Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft Oil Company.
“Now I would like to convey warm greetings to the then co-chair of the Russia-China Energy Dialogue, the legendary Chinese leader Wang Qishan, who was recognized by the Russian people as a great friend of Russia and who pioneered the creation of the ESPO pipeline system, which has become a guaranteed route for our supplies. His personal contribution gave a powerful impetus to our partnership in nuclear energy, gas and coal supplies, and electricity flows,” Sechin said at the opening of the 7th Russia-China Energy Business Forum (RCEBF) in Beijing.
The head of Rosneft explained that last year, Russia provided almost 19% of China’s energy imports, worth a total of approximately $100 billion.
