Moscow Transport Completes Large-Scale New Year Decorations of Infrastructure and Rolling Stock.

Ahead of the New Year 2026, and pursuant to the instruction of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the Department of Transport and the Moscow Metro have completed their holiday decoration program for the city’s transportation infrastructure. The comprehensive initiative aims to create a festive atmosphere for passengers and encompasses the metro, surface public transport, as well as operational facilities.

Within the metro system and at railway stations, over 150 artificial New Year trees have been installed across more than 40 metro stations, 15 Moscow Central Circle (MCC) stations, eight Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) stations, and five bus terminals. Neon signs and garlands adorn the facades and vestibules of six metro stations—Chistye Prudy, Ploschad Revolyutsii, Baumanskaya, Arbatskaya, Taganskaya, and Rizhskaya—as well as Kutuzovskaya station on the MCC. Themed light installations have been set up at Krasnye Vorota station (a light arch), Semenovskaya station (a Gifts installation), and within the escalator gallery at Vorobyovy Gory station (featuring 100 suspended decorative elements). Additionally, 24 specially themed trains are now operating across 11 metro lines, featuring various rolling stock models, including Rusich, Oka, Moskva-2019, Moskva-2020, and Nomernoy.

Furthermore, the facade of the Moscow Metro’s administrative building near Prospekt Mira station, the Varshavskoye depot, and the Center for Advanced Development in the Kuntsevo district have all received holiday decorations.

In surface public transport, 230 vehicles will operate with festive decorations, including 50 electric buses, 60 Vityaz-Moskva trams, and—featured for the first time—two autonomous Lvyonok-Moskva trams operating on routes T1 and No. 5. Over 600 holiday-themed posters have been placed at bus stops citywide, and 115 buses have received customized thematic wraps. The Metro Okhotniy Ryad bus stop on Tverskaya Street has also received special decorative treatment.

“As per the directive of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we are systematically decorating the city’s public transport and related infrastructure for the New Year,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport. “We are installing themed displays at metro stations and other urban facilities. This decoration creates a unified festive environment and brings holiday cheer to our passengers.”
