President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the legendary KAMAZ–master team took part in the International Russian-Chinese Winter Sports Festival ZimFestAmur. High-tech KAMAZ vehicles of the latest generation K5 were also presented during the event.

The VII International Russian-Chinese Winter Sports Festival ZimFestAmur was held in Blagoveshchensk. The opening ceremony took place on the ice of the Amur border River with the participation of Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Vasily Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region. Han Shengjian, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province, and Qin Xu, Deputy Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Anhui Province, also welcomed the participants. This season, for the first time, the guest regions participated in the Amur Winter Games Festival: the Republic of Tatarstan from the Russian side, and Anhui Province from the Chinese side. “This significant event is a vivid example of strengthening strategic partnership and friendly relations between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. The Games demonstrate the importance of developing cooperation in the field of sports, one of the most powerful platforms for uniting peoples and cultures. Russia and China have a rich history of sporting achievements and traditions, and big plans to promote a healthy lifestyle and mass sports. This festival provides a good opportunity to share experiences, improve professional skills and inspire a new generation of athletes,” said Rustam Minnikhanov.

Vasily Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region, greeted the festival participants in Russian and Chinese. “Today we are opening the Russian-Chinese Winter Sports Festival together. This unique event brought together representatives of different sports, and from this year – from different regions of the two countries. I would like to thank our long-time partners from Heilongjiang Province, as well as guests from the Republic of Tatarstan and Anhui Province, famous athletes from both countries for their support and participation. I am sure that the festival will further strengthen friendship and cooperation between our peoples,” said Vasily Orlov, Head of the Amur Region.

Next, Rustam Minnikhanov, Vasily Orlov and Han Shengjian, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province, as well as representatives of Anhui Province, symbolically opened a hockey match between the young hockey players of the Ak Bure team (Russia) and their peers from the national teams of Heilongjiang and Anhui provinces (China). After watching the hockey match, the honored guests of the festival toured other competition venues. They watched spectacular demonstration runs on trucks of the famous KAMAZ–master team. The pair drift was demonstrated by its leader Eduard Nikolaev and the young pilot Almaz Akhmedov.

A master of sports of international class, Honored Master of Sports of Russia in motorsport, Rustam Minnikhanov himself got behind the wheel of a KAMAZ K5 generation sports vehicle. The Rais of Tatarstan gave his colleague, the governor of the Amur Region, a ride right on the ice of the Amur River. “I’ve never driven a KAMAZ so fast before,”  Vasily Orlov shared his impressions.

An extensive cultural and sports program was prepared on the embankment for residents and guests of the city, Amur and Tatar collectives performed on the stage. In addition, an exhibition of modern vehicles was organized as part of the festival, which was attended by the official dealer of KAMAZ PTC in the Amur region, Auto Center Samaragd LLC. The exhibition featured high-tech KAMAZ-54901 generation K5 tractor trucks powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). In this modification, the truck is equipped with a KAMAZ R6 (Euro 5) gas engine with a capacity of 460 hp, an automated gearbox and two cryobucks holding 1,060 liters of liquefied natural gas. The use of LNG significantly reduces the owner’s fuel costs with a one-filling fuel capacity of up to 1,600 km, which makes this modification of the truck one of the most efficient for business. Special equipment models in demand in the region were also demonstrated at the site: the time-tested four-wheel drive high-sided KAMAZ-43118, utility vehicles on a KAMAZ chassis and a KAMAZ vehicle equipped with a drilling rig.
