Rosneft Organises Maslenitsa Folk Celebrations in Regions of Operation

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

With the support of Rosneft, events to mark the start of Maslenitsa began in regions where the Company operates. The festival attracted tens of thousands of people from across the country and was a key event in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

Blinis, which are a symbol of the sun and the main feature of Maslenitsa celebrations, were baked in accordance with the culinary traditions of the country’s different peoples at workplaces, in city squares, and in social institutions.

RN-Yuganskneftegaz, RN-Vankor, Kondaneft and Tyumenneftegaz fostered a special atmosphere at their remote production facilities. To bring a touch of home to their employees working in harsh northern conditions, they organised a Maslenitsa feast with thousands of fragrant blinis with various fillings, so that the oil workers could experience the warmth and spirit of the national holiday even far from home.

RN-Severo-Zapad organised folk festivities at the Vladimirovsky country complex in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Guests were immersed in the unique culture of the region’s small peoples through activities such as Bogatyr games and round dances, as well as an introduction to the culinary traditions of the Ladoga Region. Meanwhile, Rosneft petrol station customers and their families enjoyed signature blinis prepared by the head chef of the Lakhta petrol station at the Zerno café.

During the first day of Maslenitsa week in Yamal, volunteers from Rospan International baked a record-breaking 2,500 blini, forming a stack over five metres high. SevKomNeftegaz held a culinary festival for oil workers, serving blinis prepared using recipes from various regions of Russia. Kharampurneftegaz organised a culinary masterclass for children at the Northern Lights orphanage, teaching them to cook traditional dishes.

Samotlorneftegaz organised a winter farewell party for the residents of Nizhnevartovsk in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, complete with a rich cultural and entertainment programme featuring songs, games and, of course, hot blinis. There was also an opportunity for everyone to take a memorable photo with a life-size polar bear puppet, a recognisable symbol of Rosneft.

Orenburgneft organised a festival of national traditions to celebrate the end of winter with schoolchildren in the Orenburg Region. The students presented traditional costumes and held a tasting of blinis prepared according to Tatar, Bashkir, Chuvash and Mordovian recipes. On Sakhalin, oil workers from Sakhalinmorneftegaz-Shelf visited a sponsored boarding house for disabled people and senior citizens, giving them Maslenitsa treats and necessary medical equipment.

Volunteers from Rosneft’s Samara group of enterprises dedicated the holiday to the National Cuisine Day of peoples from the Volga Region. Visitors enjoyed tasting Chuvash, Mordovian and Tatar blinis while watching performances by folk groups.

The Saratov Oil Refinery organised Maslenitsa celebrations for factory workers, their families, and veteran oil workers. Guests competed in a national costume contest, performed lively songs and danced the Russian round dance to a medley of folk melodies.

Thanks to the Angarsk Petrochemical Company, residents of the Angara Region were able to take part in traditional winter celebrations featuring songs, dances, competitions, masterclasses and festive treats. In the Khabarovsk Territory, volunteers from the Komsomolsk Refinery taught children from a local orphanage how to make traditional Russian blini.

In the Republic of Bashkortostan, home to over 110 different ethnic groups, the Bashneft Group organised a celebration combining Maslenitsa with winter sports and activities, including ski races, hockey in valenki boots, snow volleyball and family races. These festivities culminated in the ‘Russia – Our Common Home’ festival, which showcased the diverse culinary traditions of the region’s peoples. Alongside the traditional Russian blini, guests were treated to Bashkir chak-chak, Tatar echpochmak, and Chuvash khuplu.

Rosneft’s workforce is made up of people from many different nationalities, and the company operates throughout the country. The widespread celebration of Maslenitsa marks the beginning of Rosneft’s series of events in support of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

The Platform of Good Deeds Unites 108,000 Rosneft Volunteers in 2025

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Rosneft has announced the results of its corporate volunteer programme, Platform of Good Deeds, for 2025. Rosneft volunteers implemented around 1,700 social projects and events, with over 108,000 Company employees participating.

Corporate volunteering plays an important role in addressing socially significant challenges in Rosneft’s operating regions and spans various areas: humanitarian, social, sports and environmental activities.

In 2025, organising events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War became one of the main areas of volunteering. Rosneft volunteers across the country organised events with a view to preserving historical memory, strengthening intergenerational ties and promoting patriotic education. Enterprises employees provided assistance to veterans, organised the cleaning and repair of monuments and military graves, and ran courage lessons at sponsored children’s institutions. Volunteers also organized patriotic car and bicycle rallies, planted alleys of glory in many cities, unfurled an 80-meter St. George ribbon.

A particular emphasis was placed on supporting children. Throughout the year, volunteers held over 360 events, assisting over 17,000 children. Volunteers assisted schools and kindergartens, participated in gatherings for children from low-income families for the school year, and conducted career guidance master classes to introduce them to the role of an oil worker. Children from family centres in Moscow were given the opportunity to attend excursions to children’s parks, zoos and sporting events. For instance, volunteers regularly organised trips for children to attend matches of the CSKA hockey club, owned by Rosneft, to the Moscow Zoo, and many other places. Oil workers also actively participated in charitable nationwide and regional initiatives for children,  including the interactive educational project Danger-Free City and campaigns such as Getting Ready for School, Box of Courage and others.

The support of the donor movement is an integral part of Rosneft’s corporate culture. In 2025, 88 donor events were held at the Company’s enterprises, with over 8,000 employees participating.

As part of Rosneft’s commitment to nature conservation, significant emphasis has been placed on environmental volunteering initiatives. Over 400 environmental initiatives were carried out by employees across the country, including improvements to public and natural areas, and the introduction of separate waste collection. Thus, the Company’s subsidiaries sent a record-breaking 1,000 tonnes of waste paper for recycling. Furthermore, employees of the enterprises regularly replenish water resources in the regions where they operate with valuable fish species and participate in tree planting. In 2025, the number of volunteers participating in environmental projects exceeded 34,000.

The Platform of Good Deeds programme has been proven to contribute to the formation of corporate culture, the development of team spirit and the ability of employees to make a real contribution to society. Young activists from the Movement of the Firsts have become reliable assistants to Rosneft volunteers. Schoolchildren and teenagers eagerly respond to calls to participate in thematic and environmental projects.

Effect of Introducing Energy-Efficient Technologies at RN-Yuganskneftegaz Exceeds 3 Billion Roubles

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

In 2025, RN-Yuganskneftegaz, Rosneft’s largest production asset, reduced its electricity consumption by 565 million kWh as a result of implementing energy-saving measures. This figure is 11% higher than last year’s. The monetary value of this reduction exceeded 3 billion roubles.

Following the gradual replacement of equipment over a number of years, more than 80% of centrifugal pump units now have energy-efficient valves and high-voltage electric motors. The introduction of new equipment and technologies in mechanised production saved 273 million kWh in 2025 alone. Modern pump units in particular, with increased efficiency, reduced consumption by more than 97 million kWh.

Other effective measures in mechanised production include installing electric centrifugal pumps equipped with gas separators to reduce energy consumption, using low-energy-loss transformers, and optimising submersible cable cross-sections.

RN-Yuganskneftegaz’s implementation of measures to reduce energy consumption in the maintenance of reservoir pressure, the preparation of primary oil and the supply of electricity and heat has resulted in savings of 9,000 tonnes of fuel equivalent.

RN-Yuganskneftegaz operates a unified energy management system which successfully passed a recertification audit in accordance with GOST R ISO 50001-2023 in 2025.

The enterprise is developing a culture of energy conservation. Over the course of the year, 115 employees underwent training in energy conservation and efficiency. Employees provide feedback and promote best practices in this area.

Energy efficiency criteria are taken into account when designing, reconstructing or modernising industrial and social facilities, and purchasing materials.

Improving the efficiency of production assets is one of the key elements of Rosneft 2030 Strategy. The Company and its subsidiaries work systematically to rationalise the use of energy resources and reduce energy consumption, optimising electrical loads and thermal processes.

For Reference:

RN-Yuganskneftegaz is a key asset for Rosneft, accounting for around 30% of the Company’s total production. It is involved in geological exploration and field development across 40 licence areas totalling over 21,000 square kilometres in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra.

The Moscow Metro has launched the country’s first unmanned train with a machine vision system.

In the Moscow Metro, the first unmanned train in Russia equipped with an innovative machine vision system has been introduced. The technology allows the train to “see” the surrounding space in real time and ensure the safest and smoothest possible movement.

As reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transportation, Maksim Liksutov, the train is able to detect objects up to 200 meters away thanks to a lidar installed on the outside of the cab.

The lidar scans the space with a laser beam: when the signal reflects off objects, it returns to the sensor, and the system analyzes the speed of the reflection to determine the exact location of the objects. Integrated rotating sensors provide a 360-degree view, creating a real-time three-dimensional map of the route.

All information from the lidar is instantly transmitted to the computing unit via a high-speed secure communication channel. This allows the system to respond promptly to any changes in the situation and maintain a high level of traffic safety.

“The machine vision system is the basis for safe unmanned driving. The solution was developed by specialists from the capital’s Center for Research and Development of Unmanned Transport. The technology provides path scanning with an accuracy of up to 2 centimeters. According to the task of the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to develop unmanned technologies and are ready to share our achievements with other regions,” noted Maksim Liksutov.

The development of unmanned solutions strengthens the leading position of the Moscow Metro as one of the most technologically advanced transport complexes in the world.

Paintings in the tunnel? For participants of the Art in the Metro project in Moscow, nothing is impossible.

At the Shelepikha station, the first night-time art session of the Art in the Metro project took place in 2026. Ten artists from the third season worked directly on the tracks of the closed station, which will eventually become part of the Line 17.

The creative session took place at night, with strict adherence to all safety requirements — the voltage from the contact rail was disconnected during the artists’ work. Participants had a unique opportunity to take a fresh look at the architecture and engineering infrastructure of the metro, transforming the technical space into an artistic workshop.

“In 2026, we held a night-time outdoor session for the artists of the 3rd season of the ‘Art in the Metro’ project for the first time. For the second time, it took place at the closed Shelepikha station, which will in the future become part of the Line 17. Such events allow us to take a fresh look at the metro infrastructure and show it to residents from an unusual perspective. According to the task of the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to develop the capital’s metro as a unique space for the implementation of cultural initiatives,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maksim Liksutov.

The Art in the Metro project is implemented with the support of the general partner and operator — The Association Exhibition Halls of Moscow.

In the Moscow Metro, a Chinese-language map has been introduced and a photo exhibition has opened to mark the Chinese New Year

Source: Moscow Metro

A Chinese-language version of the metro map has been launched in Moscow-series trains operating on nine lines of the Moscow Metro. The announcement was made by Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maksim Liksutov.

In the Moscow Metro, a Chinese-language map has been introduced and a photo exhibition has opened to mark the Chinese New Year.

Passengers can now use interactive screens to select departure and arrival stations, calculate travel time, and build the most convenient route with transfers. Station names were translated in cooperation with native Chinese speakers using a combined approach — semantic translation together with transliteration. This method helps international tourists navigate the metro more quickly and remember station names more easily.

In addition, for the first time, New Year greetings for the Lunar New Year have appeared in both Chinese and Russian on 15 digital station displays of the Line 16.

As part of the Chinese New Year in Moscow festival, the Moscow Metro, together with Mosturizm, the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow, and the China National Tourist Office in Moscow, has organized a photo exhibition on the upper level of the Delovoy Tsentr transport hub.

The exhibition introduces visitors to Lunar New Year traditions in China. The photographs feature scenic panoramas of Chinese cities, spring festival rituals, calligraphy, red lanterns, traditional decorations, and other elements of festive culture.

For the second year in a row, the metro has joined the celebration of Chinese New Year. For the first time, a photo exhibition has been organized on the second level of the Delovoy Tsentr transport hub. A themed train dedicated to Chinese New Year traditions has also been launched for the second time. Moscow Transport continues to play an active role in the cultural life of the capital. On the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we are working to make travel even more comfortable for both residents and tourists. Last year, we introduced a Chinese-language metro map — it can be downloaded from the Moscow Unified Transport Portal or obtained at more than 30 Live Communication service desks. This year, the map will appear on more than 6,900 screens in Moscow-series trains. For the holiday, we have also prepared themed banners on the digital displays of the Line 16 stations. Moscow Transport is always happy to welcome international guests and is ready to receive them, said Maksim Liksutov.

The exhibition runs until February 28 and can be visited free of charge during the opening hours of the Delovoy Tsentr transport hub.

Moscow Metro Launches Train Dedicated to Chinese New Year.

A new themed train celebrating the Chinese New Year has started running on Moscow’s Metro Line 3. The train will operate until March 28.

The train’s design features traditional Chinese symbols and colors—red and gold, which represent prosperity, joy, and good fortune. The carriages are decorated with images of festive lanterns, symbolizing light and renewal. The walls display the symbol of 2026, the Fire Horse, representing energy, movement, and progress.

During the ride, passengers can read poems by Chinese poets from different eras, starting from the 7th century, presented in both Russian and Chinese. The train also features photos of past Chinese New Year celebrations in Moscow, showing how the festival has become part of the city’s cultural life.

The first and last carriages include a metro map in Chinese, first introduced in 2025.

This is the second themed train created as part of Moscow-China cooperation, following the 2025 train decorated with dragon imagery, a well-known symbol of China.

Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry: “China is Moscow’s strategic partner in Asia. In 2025, Moscow accounted for over 40% of Russia-China trade. Following Mayor Sergei Sobyanin’s instructions, we are expanding cooperation in industry and transport. Our collaboration is systematic, and Chinese colleagues actively participate in the International Transport Summit we host annually in Moscow. Together, we will continue sharing expertise in autonomous transport, digital passenger services, AI technologies, and other development areas. Moscow’s transport system is always open to cooperation with our good neighbors and ready to welcome guests from China.”

Maria Zakharova, Official Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry: “This is the second time a themed metro train has been launched as part of the Moscow Chinese New Year Festival. The initiative has truly resonated with Muscovites because it creates a festive mood—you step into the carriage and learn more about an event that holds immense significance for Asian cultures, especially China, in a bright and joyful way.”

Evgeny Kozlov, First Deputy Head of the Moscow Mayor’s Office and Chairman of the Moscow Tourism Committee: “For the Chinese New Year, Moscow has once again launched a themed metro train—a joint project that allows residents to explore the traditions of a friendly culture on their daily routes. The metro attracts Chinese tourists as a landmark, and the themed train will become another interesting point in their travel itinerary. Joint projects by the Moscow Government are increasing interest in the city as a tourist destination. The annual growth rate of Chinese tourists visiting Moscow has doubled, with more business travelers arriving.”

The launch of the themed train is part of the extensive “Chinese New Year in Moscow” festival program, running until March 1. The full schedule is available on the Russpass digital tourism platform. The festival is organized by the Moscow Government, with support from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Russia.

The project is part of the Winter in Moscow city season, which brings together cultural, educational, and sports events for residents and visitors. The initiative aims to strengthen community and family ties, foster unity, and promote international cultural cooperation.

Moscow Metro: Key Development Directions in 2026.

The Moscow Metro continues its large-scale expansion. Over the past 15 years, more than 260 km of lines, 127 stations, and 14 depots (including the Brateyevo wagon repair plant) have been built or reconstructed in the metro and on the Moscow Central Circle.

In 2024, two new depots—Yuzhnoye and Stolbovo—were put into operation, improving the reliability and quality of rolling stock maintenance.

In September, the first phase of Line 16 was completed. In October, tunneling began for the second phase—a 6-station southern section running along Kaluzhskoye Highway from Kommunarka to Troitsk.

In June, tunneling started for Line 18.

Work continues on extending Line 3 from Schyolkovskaya to Golyanovo, which will become the new terminus.
