Nikas Safronov’s Exhibition Opens in Mumbai with Support of Rosneft

The exhibition by Nikas Safronov, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, was opened in Mumbai, India, with support from the Rosneft Oil Company. The exhibition, titled “Dream Vision”, will be open to the public at the National Gallery of Modern Art from 30 December to 15 January.

The exhibition formed part of a major cultural diplomacy project that was presented in December at the national Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi. This exhibition is recognised as the most popular and significant one in India in the last 60 years. Over two weeks, the exhibition was visited by 560,000 people, including representatives of the authorities and international organisations, as well as leading art critics, film and television stars.

Mumbai is presenting 45 works that cover the key stages in Safronov’s career. The exhibition showcases the evolution of his artistic language, from classical painting and symbolism to the author’s Dream Vision style. Large-format LED screens greet visitors at the entrance, creating the effect of transitioning from the real world to a world of images. There is a particular focus on works that combine traditional Russian patterns, such as Gzhel, Khokhloma and Palekh motifs, with Indian cultural codes.

The National Gallery of Modern Art is a UNESCO-listed cultural heritage site. For this museum, Nikas Safronov created a five-hundred-metre-long Hindu mandala installation that comes to life inside the gallery’s huge dome. This installation reveals the project’s key idea: the unification of Eastern and Western cultures. To enhance perception, the exhibition uses a combination of classical painting and modern technology to create an immersive environment through installations, lighting, sound and digital solutions.

The series of works, which was painted especially for the Indian public, has already attracted the attention of art critics. They describe these pieces as “a subtle and intellectual dialogue of cultures, in which Russia speaks to India through images and emotions”. These artworks are a testament to the artist’s respect and admiration for India, its history, philosophy, religious traditions, mythology, and architecture.

The exhibition was titled “Dream Vision”, reflecting Nikas Safronov’s signature style of the same name. This unique technique enables the artist to create multi-layered paintings that blur the boundaries between reality and fiction.

With support from Rosneft, the first two halls of a new permanent Art of the Art Nouveau Era exhibition have opened at the General Staff Building of the State Hermitage Museum. They showcase the work of artists from the second half of the 1880s through the end of the 1890s.

The exhibition centers on the most expressive pieces from the Hermitage collection—objects created by masters of leading European and Russian schools at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, ranging from ceramic and jewelry items to furniture and tapestries. The exhibition curators devoted particular attention to the unique character of art glass represented in the museum’s collection.

The first two halls present visitors with glass, porcelain and majolica pieces—works by Émile Gallé and his contemporaries. These are complemented by jewelry created in Russia as well as in France, Belgium, Austria and other European countries. Among the largest exhibits are The Adoration of the Magi tapestry by William Morris, a Flora of Lorraine table with an inlaid top created by Émile Gallé, and a writing desk by Belgian painter, graphic artist, architect and Art Nouveau theorist Henry van de Velde, acquired specifically for the exhibition at the General Staff Building. The exhibition also presents to the general public for the first time works by ceramic designer William Moorcroft.

Exhibition visitors will also see gifts received by Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna in 1896 during their official visit to France. Among them are two glass vases by Émile Gallé mounted in silver by craftsmen from the leading Paris jewelry firm Bapst et Falize, the Nîmes Vase created at the famous Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory, and a decorative glass mask made by sculptor Henri Cros. All these objects rank among the finest examples of Art Nouveau.

In several years, the new exhibition will occupy five halls. They will open in stages and trace the results of creative explorations of the 19th century and the development of Art Nouveau in the early 20th century.

Rosneft actively participates in significant events and phenomena of Russian cultural life. With the Company’s support, the State Hermitage Museum in 2024 opened a renovated Culture and Art of China exhibition covering periods from antiquity through the 20th century. The museum also maintains a permanent Ancient Greek Colonization of the Northern Black Sea Region exhibition. With Rosneft’s support, the Hermitage has hosted exhibitions dedicated to the phenomenon of Raphael and the history of Egyptology in Russia.

Moscow Metro – More Than 350 Ultra-Modern Moskva-2026 Cars to Appear in Moscow Metro This Year

Source: Moscow Metro

Over the past few years, we have carried out large-scale work to update the rolling stock:

🔹 Since 2020, we have updated it on the Circle, Lines 6 and 7. We have equipped the BCL, Lines 15 and 16.

🔹 We have started to update the trains on Line 2: the share of new cars already exceeds 50%. We will fully update it by the end of the year.

🔹 We have received 560 cars of the Moskva-2024 series.

🔹 The first Moskva-2026 cars have entered service.

More Than 350 Ultra-Modern Moskva-2026 Cars to Appear in Moscow Metro This Year.

The Moskva-2026 series trains are among the most technologically advanced in the world, setting new standards for comfort and safety. They are made from domestic components. The cars retain the advantages of previous series: powerful air conditioning systems, wide doors, convenient inter-car passages, adaptive lighting, line-colored illumination, USB and Type-C ports, and numerous information screens. Compared to the “Numerical” series, the maximum capacity of the train has increased by 10%, and the doors have become 32% wider.

Additionally, the Moskva-2026 features updated plastic in some interior elements, as well as new glass on the handrails of the entrance area and the rear-view camera housing. The futuristic lighting of the front section has been redesigned—the shape of the headlights has become more elongated, making them appear as an extension of the light strip on the front of the train. Changes have also been made to the design of the “passenger-driver” communication block, including improvements for passengers with limited mobility.

“Today, the Moscow Metro holds a leading position in train renewal among the metros of Europe and America. The share of modern rolling stock has grown to nearly 80%—back in 2010, this figure did not exceed 13%. This is all thanks to the large-scale and systematic work we are carrying out on the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. We plan that by 2030, more than 90% of the cars in the capital’s metro will be of the modern generation,” said Maksim Liksutov.

Transport – Digital Leadership and Comfort: Moscow Transport Summarizes Ticket System Development in 2025

Source: Moscow Metro

From January to December 2025, Moscow’s transport complex implemented a large-scale modernization program for its ticketing system. Key priorities included the introduction of domestically produced equipment, the expansion of biometric services, and the launch of virtual solutions for privileged categories of citizens.

Moscow ticketing.

World Record in Biometrics Moscow has officially secured its status as the global leader in the coverage of fare payment using biometric technology. By the end of 2025, the service became available at 100% of metro and Moscow Central Circle (MCC) turnstiles.

  • 700,000 users are already registered in the system.
  • 192 million trips have been made using biometrics since the project’s launch. No other megacity in the world has implemented this technology on such a massive scale.

“Today, Moscow Transport is a global leader in the number of convenient fare payment methods. Following the directive of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we pay special attention to the development of the most advanced services. For example, in 2025, biometric technology became fully operational at all metro and MCC turnstiles. We are also developing this technology for the Moscow Central Diameters,” noted Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Infrastructure Upgrade: Faster and More Powerful In 2025, Moscow metro stations began introducing a new generation of Russian-made equipment:

  • Innovative terminals: Six new-type devices were installed at Nizhegorodskaya, Kuntsevskaya, VDNKh, and Medvedkovo stations. Thanks to modern hardware, passenger service speed doubled.
  • Smart turnstiles: Seven compact turnstiles were activated at Terminal 1 of Nizhegorodskaya MGV.
    • Capacity: +40%
    • Speed: +20%
    • Inclusivity: Vibration feedback and color indicators were added for the convenience of visually and hearing-impaired passengers.

Digital Services for Youth and Comfortable Travel The past year marked a transition to fully virtual solutions:

  • Virtual Muscovite Card: Testing began for smartphone fare payment for students. The QR-based service will be available to all students in the Metro Moscow app starting in 2026.
  • Automatic Activation: Passengers no longer need to search for yellow terminals to load funds onto their cards. The feature is now available on 3,000 tram validators (nearly 950,000 uses in the year). The technology will be scaled to buses and electric buses.

Moscow Transport: 2025 Results and Future Plans

Source: Moscow Metro

The past year, 2025, was a year of large-scale transportation and industrial transformations for Moscow. Under the leadership of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the city fulfilled all its commitments to residents regarding the development of the transport system and the industrial potential of the capital. The comfort, safety, and trust of Muscovites remained the top priority in all decisions and projects.

Moscow Metro.

The key achievement of the year was not the number of projects implemented, but the growing trust of city residents in public transport. Today, about 70% of all trips in Moscow are made using public transport—one of the best indicators in the world. More and more residents are choosing the metro, electric buses, trams, car-sharing, and taxis, prioritizing convenience, reliability, and care.

In 2025, Moscow implemented critical infrastructure projects. Modern domestic trains, the Moskva-2026, began operating on the metro Line 2, and the rolling stock on the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) was fully updated. A third route for unique electric boats was launched, and the fleet grew by more than 50%. Four new stations on the Troitskaya metro line were opened.

A landmark event was the launch of Russia’s first fully autonomous tram. This innovative technology, once seen as a futuristic concept, is now used in everyday passenger trips without compromising comfort or safety.

2025 was also a turning point for tram development. Moscow opened its first tram diameter, T1, operating like an above-ground metro with intervals as short as six minutes. The first autonomous trams in the country, Lvyonok-Moskva, entered service.

Special attention was given to integrating Moscow and the Moscow region. Twenty-five suburban ground routes have been upgraded to the high standards of Moscow transport, ensuring passengers receive consistent service quality regardless of where they live.

Moscow remains one of Russia’s leaders in road safety. Despite high population density and traffic volumes, the social risk in the city is several times lower than the national average. The city’s work is based on the global Vision Zero concept, aimed at achieving zero traffic fatalities.

The capital’s industry also makes a significant contribution to the transport system’s development. The first electric boats were laid down at the new Moscow Shipyard—a unique production facility for Russia, with a potential output of up to 40 vessels per year. In 2025, the city received more than 500 modern electric buses, allowing Moscow to maintain its leadership in Europe for the number of eco-friendly urban transport vehicles.

High-tech products for medicine, transport, industry, and the space sector are being developed in the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone. Today, Moscow’s industry provides stable employment for one in ten residents. The city is home to over 4,600 enterprises, and the volume of private investment in fixed capital for the first three quarters of 2025 exceeded 5.2 trillion rubles.

In 2026, Moscow will continue implementing its Development Strategy until 2030. Plans include expanding the city’s rail framework, opening the first section of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line, launching the second tram diameter T2, and converting 15 trams to autonomous operation. The tram fleet and the rolling stock of the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line will be fully updated, and the rolling stock on the Yaroslavl direction will continue to be replaced. Additionally, a fourth regular river route will be launched, and the fleet will be expanded with eight more electric boats.

All these projects are not just infrastructure solutions but real improvements in the quality of life: convenience, safety, time savings, and growing trust among residents.

Moscow transport continues to work for the city and its people.

Moscow Transport Completes Large-Scale New Year Decorations of Infrastructure and Rolling Stock.

Ahead of the New Year 2026, and pursuant to the instruction of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the Department of Transport and the Moscow Metro have completed their holiday decoration program for the city’s transportation infrastructure. The comprehensive initiative aims to create a festive atmosphere for passengers and encompasses the metro, surface public transport, as well as operational facilities.

Within the metro system and at railway stations, over 150 artificial New Year trees have been installed across more than 40 metro stations, 15 Moscow Central Circle (MCC) stations, eight Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) stations, and five bus terminals. Neon signs and garlands adorn the facades and vestibules of six metro stations—Chistye Prudy, Ploschad Revolyutsii, Baumanskaya, Arbatskaya, Taganskaya, and Rizhskaya—as well as Kutuzovskaya station on the MCC. Themed light installations have been set up at Krasnye Vorota station (a light arch), Semenovskaya station (a Gifts installation), and within the escalator gallery at Vorobyovy Gory station (featuring 100 suspended decorative elements). Additionally, 24 specially themed trains are now operating across 11 metro lines, featuring various rolling stock models, including Rusich, Oka, Moskva-2019, Moskva-2020, and Nomernoy.

Furthermore, the facade of the Moscow Metro’s administrative building near Prospekt Mira station, the Varshavskoye depot, and the Center for Advanced Development in the Kuntsevo district have all received holiday decorations.

In surface public transport, 230 vehicles will operate with festive decorations, including 50 electric buses, 60 Vityaz-Moskva trams, and—featured for the first time—two autonomous Lvyonok-Moskva trams operating on routes T1 and No. 5. Over 600 holiday-themed posters have been placed at bus stops citywide, and 115 buses have received customized thematic wraps. The Metro Okhotniy Ryad bus stop on Tverskaya Street has also received special decorative treatment.

“As per the directive of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we are systematically decorating the city’s public transport and related infrastructure for the New Year,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport. “We are installing themed displays at metro stations and other urban facilities. This decoration creates a unified festive environment and brings holiday cheer to our passengers.”

Moscow Metro launches new ticket vending machines and turnstiles made in Moscow.

A large-scale modernization of the fare payment infrastructure has begun in the Moscow Metro. The first next-generation Information Ticket Purchase Terminal (ITPT) is already operational at Nizhegorodskaya station, along with new-generation turnstiles. By the end of 2025, such devices will be installed at five more stations, and by 2026, a total of 450 new terminals of Moscow production will be deployed across the metro network.

The new ITPTs deliver twice the passenger service speed thanks to cutting-edge software and hardware. The terminals feature an ergonomic, compact design, intuitive interface, and incorporate up-to-date banking-grade data security technologies. In addition to purchasing and topping up tickets—including the “Troika” card—passengers can plan their routes directly on the interactive metro map.

Simultaneously, new turnstiles have also been launched—they operate 20% faster than previous models and increase station throughput capacity by 40%. The equipment supports all modern fare payment methods, from traditional tickets to virtual “Troika,” the Fast Payment System, and biometric identification. Color indicators and haptic feedback instantly inform users whether the fare has been successfully deducted.

In December 2025, five new Information Ticket Purchase Terminals will be installed at Kuntsevskaya station on the Big Circle Line, as well as at VDNKh and Medvedkovo stations on Line 6. This will mark the next phase in upgrading Moscow’s public transport ticketing infrastructure.

In 2026, new turnstiles will be installed at 25 stations, and by the end of 2031, over 4,500 such units will be operational across the metro, Moscow Central Circle (MCC), and Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) lines.

“The first terminal is already operating at the Nizhegorodskaya transport hub. Five more units will appear at metro stations by the end of 2025. The machines will be equipped with innovative hardware matching the increased pace of payment transactions. This will allow us to double passenger service speed. Per instructions from Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we will continue to integrate the world’s best digital technologies into the fare payment system,” said Maksim Liksutov.

Rosneft Sponsors Cyber Racing Championship Final in Moscow

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The final of the annual LADA Sport ROSNEFT eChampionship cyber racing championship was hosted in Moscow with sponsorship from Rosneft. The final races were broadcast live on the official social media communities of the racing team.

Rosneft actively supports the development of both amateur and professional sports. Since 2015, the Company has been the general sponsor of the LADA Sport ROSNEFT racing team.

The cyber racing championship began in September 2025, featuring five online stages in which drivers from across the country competed. In order to participate, it was necessary to install a special software programme on your computer. The ten strongest cyber sportsmen reached the finals following the results of the selection.

For the first time, the finals were held in the Race of Champions format on professional racing simulators. Following the qualifying races, the competitors were divided into groups for elimination doubles, with the winner being determined from these groups.

Kirill Antonov from Tver won the final, confirming his status as the strongest for the second year running. The main prize of the tournament — the opportunity to compete in the Russian Ring Racing Series (RRRS) in the colours of LADA Sport ROSNEFT in the 2026 season — was awarded to Ivan Chekhov from Voronezh, who took silver. This is due to the cyberchampionship rules, which restrict the previous year’s winner from re-entering the real RRRS races. Kirill Antonov, winner of the previous season, has already made a successful debut at one of the 2025 RRRS stages, finishing his first race one step away from the podium.

In the 2025 season, LADA Sport ROSNEFT secured their fourth consecutive victory as the country’s top racing team, with Leonid Panfilov winning the championship title in the Super Production class. The LADA Sport ROSNEFT Junior karting team and its pilot Yaroslav Shevyrtalov became champions in their categories.

For reference:

Over the years of collaboration with Rosneft, the LADA Sport ROSNEFT team has won 49 championship titles in various disciplines, including the Silk Way Rally.

This collaboration has brought innovative products to market, such as Pulsar 100 high-octane petrol and Rosneft Magnum Racing sports racing oil. The LADA Sport ROSNEFT team has been using this particular motor oil since 2021, as it provides increased engine protection in extreme competitive conditions. The technologies tested on racetracks are available to motorists. Pulsar fuel and Magnum Racing oil can be purchased at Rosneft filling stations.
