Moscow Metro – Yaroslavl Route to Become Faster and More Comfortable: New “Ivolga” Trains Introduced

Moscow, November 9 – By the end of the year, the fleet of modern “Ivolga 4.0” trains on the Yaroslavl railway route will expand to 15 units. This is part of a large-scale rolling stock renewal program implemented jointly with the carrier CPPK and Russian Railways (RZD).

Comfort, Speed, and Safety:

  • The first “Ivolga 4.0” trains have already begun operating this year.
  • By 2030, 92 new train units are planned for procurement.
  • The average age of the fleet will be reduced fivefold, to 3.5 years.
  • New trains are 20% more spacious, offer 15% faster and more comfortable boarding, and feature 45% wider aisles—especially convenient during peak hours.
  • The upgrade will enable the daily transport of over 300,000 passengers.

Implementation Stages:

  • Comprehensive inspections and system adjustments are underway to launch the new trains.
  • Special focus is placed on training locomotive engineers, who undergo additional training.
  • A new division of the Tver Carriage Works has opened in Pushkino to monitor the technical condition of trains and perform scheduled maintenance.

Comprehensive Route Development:

  • Additional tracks have been built from Moscow to Pushkino, reducing train waiting times by one-third.
  • A transport hub has been constructed in Rostokino for seamless transfers from the Yaroslavl route to the Moscow Central Circle (MCC).

“The upgrade of the Yaroslavl route will allow even more residents and visitors of the capital to enjoy fast and comfortable transportation,” noted the press service of Moscow Transport.

4 ноября, Москва. В День народного единства на медиаинсталляции «Матрешка Москвы» представили обновлённую программу, посвящённую многообразию и самобытности народов России.

Вечером жители и гости столицы увидели уникальное мультимедийное шоу, аналогов которому нет в мире. По словам заместителя Мэра Москвы по вопросам транспорта Максима Ликсутова, для гостей парка «Зарядье» подготовили более 30 новых анимированных сцен с 3D-графикой, отражающих природное и культурное богатство нашей страны.

На огромных экранах ожили узнаваемые символы России:

🔹 сова в стиле гжель
🔹 белые медведи Арктики
🔹 щедрый урожай южных регионов
🔹 величественные горные вершины Кавказа
🔹 якутская костяная статуэтка — оберег Севера

Впервые «Матрешка Москвы» предстала в образах, символизирующих единство и самобытность народов России.

«Инновационная достопримечательность „Матрешка Москвы“ не имеет аналогов в мире. Это не просто туристический центр, а новая площадка для цифрового искусства. Ее ключевая особенность — уникальная кинетическая инсталляция, которая меняет форму каждые 1–2 секунды. По поручению Мэра Москвы Сергея Собянина технологию реализовали столичные инженеры и дизайнеры. Московские специалисты несколько месяцев создавали мультимедийное представление, равных которому нет в мире. Каждый элемент был отрисован вручную, чтобы показать природное и культурное богатство России — от Крайнего Севера до Кавказа», — рассказал Максим Ликсутов.

Новая программа подчеркивает идею единства России, где культура, технологии и искусство соединяются, создавая современный образ страны, в которой ценят традиции и вдохновляются будущим.

“Matryoshka of Moscow” Unveils New Program Dedicated to the Unity of the Peoples of Russia

On 4 November, in the evening, residents and guests of the capital saw the new imagery of “Matryoshka of Moscow”.

According to Maxim Liksutov, during the multimedia show — the likes of which do not exist elsewhere in the world — more than 30 new scenes with 3D graphics were shown at Zaryadye Park.

Spectators were shown natural and cultural symbols of our country:


🔹 an owl in the Gzhel style
🔹 polar bears
🔹 the harvest of Russia’s southern regions
🔹 the mountain peaks of the Caucasus
🔹 a Yakut bone figurine.

For the first time the matryoshkas appeared in appearances symbolising the distinctiveness of Russia’s peoples.

“The innovative attraction ‘Matryoshka of Moscow’ has no analogue in the world. It is both a tourist centre and a platform for digital art. Its key feature is a unique kinetic installation that changes shape every 1-2 seconds. At the behest of Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the technology was implemented by Moscow engineers and companies. Moscow 3D-designers worked for several months to create a multimedia presentation with no equal in the world.

Every element was drawn by hand. Thanks to this, Muscovites and guests of the capital were able to see the natural and cultural symbols of Russia: from the Far North to the Caucasus,” said Maxim Liksutov.

The new programme underscores the idea of Russia’s unity, where culture, technology and art come together to create a modern image of a country that values tradition and draws inspiration from the future.

В Московском метро утвердили архитектурную концепцию станции “Кленовый бульвар” Бирюлёвской линии метро

Её внешний облик будет перекликаться с расположенным рядом музеем-заповедником “Коломенское”.

Преобладающим элементом в дизайне станут арки, которые будут расположены так, чтобы создать сквозные перспективы через весь ансамбль. Композиция получит эффект цельности и открытости.

Название станции будет обыграно в отделке. К примеру, на путевых стенах будут выложены из алюминия кленовые листья, аналогичный орнамент появится на полу в вестибюлях.

Сейчас строители возводят ограждающие конструкции на площадке будущей станции, ведут земляные работы и устройство крепления котлована. Идёт проходка правого тоннеля между “Островом Мечты” и “Кленовым бульваром”.

Бирюлёвская линия будет включать 10 станций. Завершение строительства её первого участка от станции “ЗИЛ” до “Курьяново” планируется в 2028 году.

The architectural concept for the Klenoviy Bulvar station on the Biryulyovskaya line of the Moscow Metro has been approved.

Its exterior design will echo the nearby Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.

The predominant element in the design will be arches. They will be positioned to create through perspectives across the entire ensemble, giving the composition a sense of integrity and openness.

The station’s name will also be reflected in the interior finishes. For example, aluminum maple leaves will be installed on the tunnel walls, and a similar pattern will appear on the floor in the vestibules.

Currently, construction workers are building the enclosing structures at the future station site, conducting earthworks, and installing pit supports. The right-hand tunnel between Ostrov Mechty and Klenoviy Bulvar is being bored.

The Biryulyovskaya line will include 10 stations. The construction of its first section, from ZIL station to Kuryanovo, is planned for completion in 2028.

New generation turnstiles will appear in Moscow transport.

Maksim Liksutov said that next year updated equipment for passage will be installed at 25 metro stations.

Main advantages:

  • The new turnstiles were designed and manufactured in Moscow.
  • The readers were placed intuitively so that the trip can be paid for almost instantly.
  • All turnstiles are connected to biometric payment, and face recognition cameras are organically integrated into the design.
  • Color lighting will show whether the fare payment was successful, and vibration feedback will help visually impaired passengers better understand the transaction status.

“According to the task set by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, by the end of 2031, more than 4,500 new generation turnstiles will be installed at metro, MCC, and MCD stations. The ergonomic design will allow for the most efficient use of vestibule space. The updated equipment will increase station throughput by 40%. Thanks to Russian microelectronics, the new turnstiles will operate even faster. This will increase the speed of passenger passage,” added Maksim Liksutov.

В Московском транспорте появятся турникеты нового поколения.

Максим Ликсутов рассказал, что в следующем году обновленное оборудование для прохода установят на 25 станциях метро.

  • Новые турникеты разработали и произвели в Москве.
  • Считыватели разместили интуитивно понятно, чтобы оплатить поездку можно было практически мгновенно.
  • Все турникеты подключили к оплате по биометрии, а камеры для распознавания лиц органично встроили в конструкцию.
  • Цветовая подсветка покажет, прошла ли оплата проезда, а виброотклик поможет слабовидящим пассажирам легче понять статус транзакции.

«По задаче Мэра Москвы Сергея Собянина до конца 2031 года на станциях метро, МЦК и МЦД установят более 4,5 тыс. турникетов нового поколения. Эргономичная конструкция позволит максимально эффективно использовать пространство вестибюлей. Обновленное оборудование повысит пропускную способность станций на 40%. Благодаря российской микроэлектронике новые турникеты будут срабатывать еще быстрее. Это увеличит скорость прохода пассажиров», — добавил Максим Ликсутов.

Assembly of the new Moskva-2026 trains has begun at Transmashholding (TMH).

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced that the city’s metro system would continue its large-scale rolling stock renewal. The first Moskva-2026 train is set to be assembled by the end of this year and will then enter testing on Moscow Metro infrastructure.

The new trains will retain the key advantages of the Moskva-2024 model, including:

  • Wide doors and inter-carriage walkways.
  • Modern climate control systems.
  • Adaptive lighting and a large number of screens.
  • USB and Type-C charging ports.
  • Cabin lighting that matches the line’s color scheme, and more.

In the Moskva-2026, some interior plastic elements, glass on the handrails of the entrance area, the rearview camera housing, and the futuristic lighting of the train’s front section will be updated.

“Moscow Metro is the city’s main transport operator. On weekdays, it serves over 8 million passengers. Ensuring passenger comfort and safety is our top priority. Following the directive of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to renew the metro’s rolling stock. Currently, 79% of the fleet consists of new trains. We expect this figure to reach 90% by 2030. Additionally, by the end of 2026, we plan to fully renew the train fleet on the Line 3. To achieve this, more than 350 modern Moskva-2026 cars will be delivered to the metro next year, with over 700 new cars introduced over two years,” said Maksim Liksutov.

На предприятии АО «ТМХ» начали сборку новых поездов «Москва-2026».

Ранее Мэр Москвы Сергей Собянин сообщил, что столичный метрополитен продолжит масштабное обновление подвижного состава.

1-й поезд «Москва-2026» соберут к концу года. Тогда же он придет для испытаний на инфраструктуре московского метро.

Новые поезда сохранят ключевые преимущества «Москвы-2024»:

  •     Широкие двери и межвагонные переходы.
  •     Современные системы климат-контроля.
  •     Адаптивное освещение и большое количество экранов.
  •     Зарядки USB и Type-C.
  •     Подсветку салона в цвет линии и многое другое.

При этом в «Москве-2026» частично обновится пластик элементов интерьера салона, стекла на поручнях входной группы, корпус камеры заднего вида и футуристическое освещение головной части составов.

«Московский метрополитен — главный перевозчик столицы. В рабочие дни его пассажиропоток — более 8 миллионов человек. Обеспечивать комфорт и безопасность пассажиров — наш приоритет. По задаче Мэра Москвы Сергея Собянина продолжаем обновление подвижного состава столичного метро. Сегодня доля новых поездов здесь — 79%. Ожидаем, что в 2030 году этот показатель достигнет 90%. Кроме того, к концу 2026-го мы планируем полностью завершить обновление парка поездов Замоскворецкой линии. Для этого в следующем году в метро поставят более 350 вагонов современной серии «Москва-2026». А всего за 2 года — свыше 700 новых вагонов», — сообщил Максим Ликсутов.

Building the world’s best and most convenient transportation system for Muscovites.

All modes of urban transportation are being developed in the capital, and they are fully integrated. Total spending on developing Moscow’s transportation system in 2026 will amount to approximately 1.3 trillion rubles.

Over the next three years, 26.9 km of metro lines, 13 stations, and one depot are planned to be commissioned. The new Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya Line will be added, the first section of the Biryulevskaya Line, and Golyanovo station on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line will be opened. Construction will also continue on the southern section of the Troitskaya Line, as well as the Yuzhny Port station on the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line and Dostoyevskaya station on the Circle Line.

Rail transport will become more comfortable and accessible for Muscovites, residents of the Moscow Region, and residents of central Russia. As part of a large-scale development program for the Central Transport Hub, new routes will be added by 2030, and train intervals will be significantly reduced.

The Moscow government is actively involved in the country’s largest transport project—the construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed highway.

Additional electric buses, buses, trams, new-generation metro cars, and trains will be purchased for the Central Transport Hub’s commuter rail routes, as well as electric scooters for city rental.

Driverless technologies are rapidly developing in transport. By the end of next year, 15 driverless trams will be operating in the city, and the first driverless metro train will be launched. By the end of 2030, two-thirds of the tram fleet is planned to be driverless.

In 2026, the fourth route of the capital’s river tram, “Kyiv – Luzhniki,” will be launched.
