Samotlorneftegaz (a Rosneft subsidiary) has held an ethnic culture festival for indigenous peoples of the North in the Nizhnevartovsk District of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. Over 500 people from different ethnic groups living and working in the region took part in this large-scale event.

The ethnic festival coincided with the start of ‘little winter’ according to the natural calendar of the Ob Yugrans, representatives of the Khanty and Mansi peoples. At the festival’s interactive venues, the indigenous inhabitants of Yugra introduced guests to their culture and centuries-old traditions.

During various masterclasses in national decorative arts and crafts, festival guests learned how to make amulets and decorations from natural materials, as well as the fundamentals of acrylic painting on canvas. Those interested in active leisure took part in sports competitions of the indigenous peoples of the North, such as jumping over sleds, archery, and tug-of-war on a deer skin.

The festive atmosphere was enhanced by performances from folklore groups. There was also a themed photo zone where people could have their picture taken with a sled pulled by northern sled dogs. The event concluded with a concert featuring the best performances by participants in the Energy of Talents corporate festival.

One of the most important areas of Rosneft’s social policy is preserving the national culture and traditional way of life of indigenous peoples in the North. The Company’s subsidiaries implement numerous projects to support indigenous peoples in the regions of operation. These projects aim to develop the infrastructure of northern settlements and improve the resources of educational institutions and social facilities in areas where indigenous peoples live.

As part of Rosneft’s agreement with the regional government, Samotlorneftegaz has been implementing projects to improve the quality of life of indigenous peoples of the North. Since 2020, the enterprise has supported a unique programme equipping national herds with modern information and communication technologies. It also sponsors the annual reindeer herders’ skills competition and Crow’s Day (Vorna Khatl), the national spring festival in Yugra.

With the support of RN-Vankor (part of Rosneft’s oil and gas production complex), a fuel and energy education and production centre has opened in Krasnoyarsk. The centre will train workers for the region’s oil and gas industry, as well as for the Vostok Oil project which is being implemented in Taimyr.

The centre has been opened as part of the federal Professionality project at the Krasnoyarsk Technical College of Welding Technologies and Energy and will train specialists in the fields of Energy Supply and Petrochemistry. The technical college has created fifteen workshops and laboratories for the new professional competencies, meeting the modern requirements of the project’s partner enterprises.

The Fuel and Energy Cluster (FEC) comprises four other vocational education institutions in the region: the polytechnic and technical colleges in Kansk; the Krasnoyarsk Assembly College; and the Taimyr College in Dudinka.

This academic year, 275 students have begun studying on the updated educational programmes offered by the Fuel and Energy Cluster. They will qualify as electricians, electrical technicians, electrical fitters, chemical compound quality control technicians, chemical analysis laboratory assistants, welders, chemical engineers and maintenance technicians specialising in control and measuring instruments and automation equipment.

In addition, since September, drivers of specialised vehicles working in the Far North have undergone training at the Transport–Logistics educational and industrial cluster. Opened by TBS-Logistics (the transport and logistics operator of the Vostok Oil project), it is based at the Krasnoyarsk Transport and Service Technical College. The cluster also includes three network technical colleges of the town of Kansk, the Yemelyanovo settlement and the Irsh settlement in the Rybinsk District.

Three hundred and fifty students have begun studying car maintenance and repair, equipment operation in extreme conditions and warehouse logistics. Six modern sites have been created for various types of work, and computer simulators and demonstration stands have been installed to show how units and assemblies work. The school has its own fleet of trucks, truck cranes and lifts to reinforce theoretical learning. This enables students to focus more on developing practical skills that will be in demand when working at oil facilities.

Last year, RN-Vankor and TBS-Logistics joined the federal Professionality project as supporting enterprises, signing an agreement with the Krasnoyarsk Territory Ministry of Education to comprehensively modernise the training system for young personnel, in order to meet the growing needs of the region’s oil and gas industry. The Vostok Oil project alone is expected to create 130,000 jobs.

Other subsidiaries of the Company operating in the Krasnoyarsk Territory have also joined the Professionality programme, including Vostsibneftegaz, Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz, the East Siberian branch of RN-Burenie, TaimyrBurService, Achinsk Oil Refinery, the Krasnoyarsk branch of RN-Service, and Sibintek.

Rosneft has allocated significant financial resources to the Professionality programme’s basic technical colleges for the renovation of premises, the creation of material resources, and the modernisation of educational spaces.

In addition to the federal project, the Krasnoyarsk Territory is implementing a regional project called ‘Professionality for All’, which involves the Demyanenko Achinsk Oil and Gas Technical College and the Krasnoyarsk Assembly College forming an oil and gas educational and industrial cluster.

The aim of creating educational and production centres is to provide young people with comprehensive, high-quality training that meets the real needs of oil and gas companies in the region looking to attract skilled workers.

A Rosneft scientific and research geological expedition, organised in collaboration with the M. V. Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University as part of the Arctic Floating University programme, departed from the port of Tiksi. The Mikhail Somov, an expedition vessel, will operate in the Laptev Sea, near the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago.

Specialists from Rosneft’s Arctic Research Centre will collect rock samples for analysis of their mineral composition, structure, origin, and spatial distribution. A comprehensive analysis of the collected material will expand the knowledge base on the geological evolution of the region and the potential of the Eastern Arctic’s oil and gas source rocks. The fieldwork in the Novosibirsk Islands will be carried out in compliance with the highest standards of environmental safety and protection.

The expedition follows the Company’s long-standing work studying sedimentary basins in the Russian Arctic.   From 2014 to 2019, scientists studied the geological structure of the Arctic islands. In 2020, Rosneft initiated a scientific programme on stratigraphic drilling in the northern seas. Nowadays, scientists have over 2,000 metres of core material at their disposal, which is a unique stone extracted from hard-to-reach regions of the Russian Arctic.

Bashneft (a Rosneft subsidiary) came on board as an official partner of one of Bashkortostan’s major sporting events: the 11th Ufa International Marathon. With more than 10,000 participants, this was the largest marathon in the event’s history.

Athletes from 52 Russian regions and 38 other countries took part in the marathon. Professional and amateur runners covered distances ranging from two to 42.2 kilometres. Prizes were awarded to the fastest athletes, and each participant received a commemorative medal.

The team of runners from Bashneft won the corporate marathon competition. With 750 participants, Bashneft’s team of runners was the largest. The enterprise’s athletes traditionally win prizes in various age categories, ranging from 12 to 74 years old.

Bashneft’s volunteers organised quizzes with prizes, as well as sports and dance contests, for the guests. There was also a photo booth where everyone could take a souvenir photo. An entertainment programme for the younger guests was arranged.

Supporting mass and professional sports, as well as healthy lifestyles, is one of the key areas of social work for Rosneft subsidiaries. In the regions of operation, the Company builds multifunctional sports complexes, playgrounds and ice rinks, and organises mass sports events in various disciplines for children and adults. Thanks to Rosneft’s support, more than 30 sports facilities and 11 multifunctional sports and recreation complexes have opened in Bashkortostan since 2017. These include a sports and recreation complex in Blagoveshchensk, ice rinks in Oktyabrsky, Kumertau and Tuimazy, and a world-class skate park in Dyurtulye. The Spartak Stadium in Tuimazy is also among these new facilities.

As part of its cooperation with the Orenburg State Nature Reserve, Orenburgneft (Rosneft’s key asset in the Volga Region) has become the official guardian of a Przewalski’s horse foal.

The Przewalski’s horse is listed in the Red Book of Russia and is categorised as having the highest rarity status (Category 0). With the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia’s only programme to create a semi-wild population of Przewalski’s horses has been underway in the Orenburg Nature Reserve since 2015. The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and the Orenburg Region Government both supported the project.

The foal taken into care was born on 12 June 2025, Russia Day. The animal was named Buravka after a competition among employees of Orenburgneft. It is similar to the word “bur” (“drill”) and is connected to the oil industry. It also contains a reference to Sivka-Burka, a magical horse from Russian folk tales that personifies wisdom and strength.

During the ceremony, Orenburgneft representatives were presented with a caretaker certificate and a Przewalski’s horse passport.

The Orenburg Nature Reserve is a specially protected natural area that includes natural complexes and objects of special ecological value. The reserve is home to many rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. Of all the animals inhabiting the reserve, 75 species are listed in the Red Books of Russia and the Orenburg Region.

Visitors to the reserve can take a walk along the equipped ecological trail Breath of the Steppe, observe beautiful steppe animals up close, and learn about the biodiversity conservation programme and the work of the Reintroduction Centre (hereinafter referred to as the Centre) to create a semi-wild population of Przewalski’s wild horses in Russia during guided tours. Information stands about the joint work with Orenburgneft have also appeared on the territory of the reserve.

The Company’s cooperation with the Centre will contribute to improving animal welfare, nutrition and veterinary care, as well as furthering research into endangered species and developing eco-tourism in the region.

Environment protection is an integral part of Rosneft’s corporate culture and social responsibility. The Company conducts large-scale activities to restore natural resources, study rare animals and conserve biodiversity in the regions of operation. As part of its commitment to scientific research, Rosneft is conducting studies on bioindicator animals in local ecosystems, including polar bears, Atlantic walruses, white seagulls and wild reindeer. The Company also supports programmes to preserve the Amur tiger population.

Rosneft employees are taking part in Water of Russia national campaign. The oil workers are organising campaigns in the regions to clean up the shores of water bodies from rubbish and household waste, as well as events to improve natural resources.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the Rosneft Strategy The Company and its subsidiaries are committed to playing a leading role in minimising environmental impact, improving the sustainability level of the production, and preserving ecosystems.

As part of the Water of Russia campaign in the Samara Region, employees of Samaraneftegaz — Rosneft’s largest oil production enterprise in the area — cleaned a stretch of the Volga River embankment in Samara. The enterprise also helps municipalities to restore and improve their natural resource infrastructure. Oil workers cleaned up the areas around springs and natural water sources in the Bezenchuksky, Krasnoyarsky, and Kinelsky districts, as well as other natural sites. Volunteers from Rosneft’s production site in Samara also regularly take part in the Samara Region Springs environmental expedition. The project aims to preserve the region’s key water sources, which are important for providing the population with clean drinking water, feeding water bodies and maintaining the overall water balance. For instance, employees of the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery helped restore three natural springs and clean up several springs in remote settlements.

Volunteers from the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery joined forces with colleagues from other Rosneft enterprises and activists from the regional EcoBalance movement to clean up 2.5 hectares of coastline at the confluence of the Volga and Sok rivers. They collected and sent about five cubic metres of household and drift waste, including plastic bottles and bags, tin cans, and glass shards, for recycling.

Employees of the Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Company are implementing various environmental measures to preserve the cleanliness of the banks of the Volga and islands, local lakes, natural springs, and coastal areas of the Kriusha and Tatianka rivers. In June, the refinery’s employees held an eco-clean-up day on the banks of the Volga River, close to the Granniy settlement. Volunteers cleared 2,000 square metres of the coastline and surrounding forest belt, removing household waste. The petrochemical company is also responsible for Lake Berezovoye in Chapaevsk, where the enterprise’s volunteers hold an annual environmental run. Together with activists from the Movement of the Firsts, employees of the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery and the Novokuybyshevsk Oil and Additives Plant cleaned up around 6.5 hectares of the Volga coastline.

In the towns of Buzuluk and Sorochinsk in the Orenburg Region, volunteers from Orenburgneft, activists from the Movement of the Firsts and Rosneft Classes students held a joint environmental campaign on the banks of water bodies. They cleaned up more than 1 hectare of coastal area, collecting 10 cubic metres of rubbish.

Employees of the Bashneft-Novoil plant in Bashkortostan cleaned up nearly 22 kilometres of the coastline of Lake Aslikul, the largest lake in the republic. The volunteers helped to reduce the impact of human activity on the lake’s ecosystem, which is very popular with tourists.

In the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra, employees of RN-Nyaganneftegaz cleaned up 1.5 hectares of the Nyagan-Yugan riverbank, collecting about three tonnes of rubbish. This is the second environmental campaign by oil workers on water bodies since the beginning of summer.

In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, employees of SevKomNeftegaz and its subsidiary RN-Service, along with representatives of organisations in Gubkinsky, participated in a community clean-up day on the banks of the Pyaku-Pur River. During the eco-campaign, 6.8 tonnes of rubbish were collected and more than six kilometres of coastal territory were cleaned up.

More than 100 employees of RN-Uvatneftegaz, Tyumenneftegaz, the corporate research centre in Tyumen, and activists from the Movement of the Firsts participated in an environmental clean-up day at Lake Andreevskoye, the largest body of water in the Tyumen Region. Volunteers cleaned up almost 10 hectares of coastline and collected around 2.5 tonnes of household waste. The participants set up a stand on the shore with information about the water body and the rare species of birds and animals that inhabit its surroundings.

Employees of RN-Northwest cleaned up the coastline of the Gulf of Finland in the Leningrad Region, removing household waste from a section of the shoreline.
