Rosneft Presents New Car Route to the Bashkiria and Udmurtia Attractions

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Rosneft, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Ministry of Tourism of the Udmurt Republic have presented a new interregional tourist route called the Kama Necklace. This project invites you to explore the cultural attractions of the regions situated along the picturesque banks of the magnificent Kama River.

The route was presented simultaneously at two Bashneft (Rosneft subsidiary) filling stations in Bashkiria and Udmurtia. The Company’s representatives and tourism experts shared their impressions of the remarkable places along the route, situated in two neighbouring republics.

Rosneft is committed to the development of domestic tourism and aims to create comfortable conditions for car travellers. One of Rosneft’s key objectives is to enhance the quality of its roadside assistance and customer service at its filling stations.

The route, which is around 450 kilometres long, begins in Ufa and ends in Votkinsk. On the way out of the capital of Bashkortostan, the first stop is usually Neftekamsk and its local Health Trail, which is the first place that most visitors to the city go. A favourite place for locals and visitors to relax, this oasis-like location has walking and cycle paths, as well as the well-kept shores of Lake Poludyonka.

The next stop on the route is Nikolo-Beryozovka, a village where the Nikolsky Church stands on the high rocky bank of the Kama River. The first St. Nicholas Church was built where the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker appeared in 1550. Thanks to support from the state and private donors, the church has now been fully restored and divine services have resumed.

The best way to travel around Sarapul is on foot, starting with the museum quarter. The beautiful merchant mansions from the early 20th century that line both sides of Nekrasov Street create an unforgettable atmosphere reminiscent of an old provincial town. One of the most unique attractions along the route is Bashenin’s Dacha, which allows visitors to immerse themselves in the lifestyle of a Sarapul merchant.

The Buranovo village offers a unique experience, featuring a museum dedicated to the Buranovskiye Babushki (Buranovo Grannies) who impressed the world at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012. The museum displays the singer’s awards, photographs and personal belongings, as well as traditional Udmurt costumes and household items.

Izhevsk, the fast-growing capital of Udmurtia, impresses with its contrasts. Over the course of 265 years, the city has grown from a modest settlement into a modern industrial centre. While in Izhevsk, be sure to visit St. Michael’s Cathedral and the Kalashnikov Museum. You should also take a walk along the Dudin Embankment and see the Forever with Russia monument. Finally, enjoy some time at the Izhevsk Zoo.

The home-museum of Galina Kulakova, the legendary Soviet skier and four-time Olympic champion, is located in Italmas village. Galina Alekseyevna is a nine-time world champion, a World Cup winner and a 39-time USSR champion. In 2002, Galina Kulakova was offered to open a small sporting glory museum in the new wing of her house. She even recreated part of her parents’ house inside it.

The final stop on the route is Votkinsk, where visitors should visit the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky museum-estate. The future great composer was born in 1840 in the house at No. 1 on the former Gospodskaya Street. After learning about his legacy, it is pleasant to stroll along the Votkinsk Dam, one of the city’s oldest and most picturesque structures.

The Kama Necklace became the fifth tourism project developed by Rosneft in collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Ministry of Tourism of the Udmurt Republic. As part of Rosneft’s Horizons of Russia project in 2024, the Power of Nature interregional route from Ufa to Orenburg was presented, and a public car rally to the homeland of Tchaikovsky was held in Udmurtia. The Pavlovskaya Round-the-World route in Bashkortostan and the Izhevsk–Game route in Udmurtia were both launched this year.

For reference:

The route passes through the Bashneft filling station network. There are 29 stations along the way where you can refuel your car with guaranteed high-quality fuel. You can also relax in a café or purchase goods for your journey, including locally produced items.

Rosneft and its partners have already developed 50 routes for car travel across the country. Some of them have already been presented on the Horizons of Russia platform.

Rosneft Begins Research on Valuable Fish Species in Taymyr

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Rosneft’s expedition to study valuable fish species in the Yenisei River estuary has departed from Dudinka. The fieldwork is being carried out by leading specialists from the Marine Research Centre at the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Company’s Arctic Research Centre. The expedition is part of Tamura’s corporate environmental programme.

The Tamura programme, launched in 2024, aims to update information on the status of key animal species in the Far North. Scientists are studying the Kara subpopulation of polar bears, wild reindeer and valuable species of birds and fish in western Taymyr. The programme will run until 2027.

The first stage of the research project on the fish fauna of the Yenisei estuary involves a variety of studies, including an evaluation of the population status of the most valuable species, and an analysis of the ecological conditions of their habitats and spawning grounds.

The scientists will study the fish’s food sources: phytoplankton, zooplankton and macrozoobenthos. The research vessel will travel the entire estuary of the Yenisei River from Dudinka to the port of Tanalau, including the largest tributaries of the Yenisei such as the Bolshaya Kheta, Pelatka, Dudinka, Tanalau, and Muksuniha rivers.

The second stage of the research, which is planned for 2026, will focus on assessing the status of fish populations in the region during different periods of their life cycles, including feeding and spawning. The research will also include biological analysis, which means measuring the weight, size, and eating habits of the most common and valuable fish species in the Yenisei, such as muksun, broad whitefish, and nelma.

The samples collected during the expedition will be analysed in the specialised laboratories of the project participants.

Rosneft pays special attention to biodiversity conservation, implementing the most extensive Arctic research programme since Soviet times. Over the past 13 years, more than 60 expeditions have been carried out to study the hydrometeorological, geological and biological features of the region. This has resulted in a unique collection of information on the climate, nature and wildlife of the Arctic. It has been the source of a unique body of information on Arctic climate, nature and wildlife.
