To mark Oil and Gas Industry Workers’ Day, Rosneft employees across Russia are opening new infrastructure facilities and launching important social campaigns. Local residents in regions where the Company operates also take an active part in educational, environmental, cultural and sporting events organised by oil workers.
With the support of Bashneft, a large sports and recreation complex has been opened in Blagoveshchensk, Republic of Bashkortostan. The complex has a total area of more than 4,500 square metres and features a four-lane swimming pool. The complex has a capacity of 550 visitors per day. Employees of RN-Uvatneftegaz have constructed a multifunctional sports ground at the Turtas School in the Uvat District of the Tyumen Region.
In line with Rosneft’s priorities regarding environmental protection and the conservation of biodiversity for future generations, the Company’s employees carry out environmental campaigns in the regions where it operates.
Employees of Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha held an environmental campaign in Yakutsk at the Druzhba Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve. They also took part in the restoration of a merchant’s house, which is an example of Siberian Baroque style.
In Yamal, volunteers from RN-Purnegaz planted rowan and lilac trees along the city square and in front of the children’s library in Gubkinsky. The event was attended by industry veterans, enterprise employees, Rosneft Class schoolchildren and activists from the Movement of the Firsts youth organisation.
Samotlorneftegaz organised a joint event for three generations of citizens in Nizhnevartovsk in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra. The participants planted a commemorative alley at the Samotlor R-1 First Exploration Well memorial complex. Students from the Rosneft class and members of the Movement of the Firsts youth organisation, along with industry veterans, provided assistance to the oil workers in planting the fir trees. Oil workers held a festive concert in Nizhnevartovsk’s central square.
In Nefteyugansk, RN-Yuganskneftegaz organised an Oil Professions creative competition for its employees, students of the Rosneft classes, activists of the Movement of the Firsts, and children from the city’s Social Centre. Furthermore, oil workers organised an amateur long-distance cycling competition called “Veloaugust”, which was open to anyone who wanted to participate. The participants recorded the results of their cycling training sessions during the month. The winners will be announced on Oil Workers’ Day and presented with commemorative awards.
Employees of the Ryazan Oil Refining Company and Ryazannefteprodukt planted shrubs and perennial plants in a park in the Zheleznodorozhny District of Ryazan, which was revived with the support of oil workers. The campaign was joined by veterans of Ryazannefteprodukt, volunteers and young residents of the city.
Employees of the Syzran Oil Refinery in the Samara Region planted 80 lime trees in honour of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The enterprise also organised the Caring for Nature traditional environmental platform. The volunteers told their younger compatriots about the animals in Rosneft’s care, then held a creative workshop.
Sport and a healthy lifestyle are an important part of the professional holiday. This includes fun activities like a friendly tug-of-war tournament among Sakhalinmorneftegaz-Shelf employees on Sakhalin and beach volleyball in Gubkinsky among teams from RN-Purnegaz, Kharampurneftegaz, SevKomNeftegaz, and Purneftepererabotka. The oil workers demonstrated strength of spirit and team unity.
Employees of Rosneft subsidiaries in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, including RN-Vankor, Vostsibneftegaz and Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz, as well as service and logistics companies, took part in an athletics race in Krasnoyarsk. For the first time, children of oil workers took part in the race. Over 150 young athletes, aged between 2 and 14, ran distances ranging from 200 metres to 1 kilometre.
Employees of several Rosneft enterprises in other regions also celebrated their professional holiday with sporting competitions, including Udmurtneft in the Republic of Udmurtia and RN-Nyaganneftegaz in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra. Corporate sports tournaments were also held at oil fields: Vostsibneftegaz held its event at the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye field in Krasnoyarsk Territory, and Tyumenneftegaz held its event at the Russkoye field in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
In the Irkutsk Region, around 200 employees of the Angarsk Petrochemical Company and representatives of other Rosneft enterprises at the Angarsk production site took part in a running festival. The route followed the shore of Lake Baikal, the deepest lake in the world.
In Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the Khabarovsk Territory, the Komsomolsk Refinery organised a large-scale athletics race and a career guidance tour for senior students from across the Far East. The children visited the enterprise and its museum, where they learned firsthand about the oil industry.
The Achinsk Oil Refinery hosted a family celebration for the residents of the Privokzalny District of Achinsk in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The refinery participated in the construction of this city’s largest residential area 50 years ago. The oil refiners have organised a programme of festive activities for the local residents, including sports competitions and performances by musical groups.
Employees of the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery organised a family health festival called “One Family, One Team”. The celebration brought together families of oil workers, industry veterans and local residents. The festival featured creative workshops, family living rooms, and a sports quest with elements of the Zarnitsa patriotic game.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Novy Urengoy, Rospan International held an intellectual tournament in which 15 teams from energy companies in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District demonstrated their knowledge of its history. The city was built in the middle of the tundra and quickly became known as Russia’s gas capital.
The Rosneft Scientific and Design Institute in Tomsk held a themed quiz covering various aspects of the oil industry, from its history to its current trends.
One of the key areas of Rosneft’s social policy is the preservation of the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North and their traditional way of life. Harampurneftegaz supported national sports competitions in Harampur village in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. The programme included traditional forest Nenets competitions such as jumping over sledge runners, throwing tynzyan onto a khorey and tug-of-war. A friendly football match took place between teams of oil workers and villagers.
With the support of Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha, an ethnic festival was held at the Srednebotuobinskoye oil and gas condensate field in Yakutia. The oil workers got acquainted with the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North and the creative work of ethnic groups.
The professional holiday was complemented by cultural and patriotic events. In Nyagan (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District-Yugra), veterans and young specialists honoured the memory of pioneering oil workers, while in Tomsk (Tomsk Region), a group viewed a popular science film about professions in the industry. At the corporate research institute in Tyumen, a solemn ceremony was held to induct new oil workers.
Samotlorneftegaz is organising a visit for employees and veteran oil workers to see the play titled “Nizhnevartovsk. The Oil Heart”, a production created at the Young Spectator Theatre with the support of the enterprise to mark the 60th anniversary of the opening of the legendary oil field. The play tells the story of how the development of the Samotlor field and the construction of the city began.
The events organised by Rosneft companies in honour of Oil and Gas Industry Workers’ Day clearly demonstrate that the modern oil industry is not only about oil and gas production and modern technologies, but also a corporate culture focused on high social responsibility, care for the environment, support for sport, preservation of historical memory and fostering patriotism.
